The Youth for Sin Tax Movement was founded in 2012, during the battle towards the passage of the Sin Tax Law (tobacco tax reform). Since then, the coalition has expanded not only in terms of membership (now around 100 member organizations nationwide) but in terms of health advocacies, the most recent of which is the campaign to reduce alcohol harms. Approaching its fourth year anniversary, we put emphasis to our power as ambassadors of change. Galban, RN, RBP, FRIN --- One year ago today, I spoke to my fellow youth about our vital role in ensuring that we achieve the Global Goals for Sustainable Development by 2030. "The Filipino Youth Agenda", organized by the UNFPA Philippines, SDG Youth Networks in Convergence (SYNC), Young Public Servants, PLCPD & YouthVote Philippines gathered about 800 young leaders & advocates to talk about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) & the 2016 national elections. As one of the earliest & biggest gatherings about the Global Goals in Philippines then, it also served as the launch of SYNC. As its Lead Convenor, I wanted to help my fellow Filipino youth realize that we have a stronger power, a louder voice, and an even bigger responsibility in building a future where no one is left behind.
